Meanwhile, Faye took a field trip in January to Volcanos National Park. Her class was studying volcanos. There are cabins for military families at the park where Faye's class stayed that provide the basics.
She doesn't like camping and this qualified. We tiptoed around her for a day or two after she got home because she came home grumpy.
Working from home means I can play hookey at will. So I recently took Jade and two friends to the beach after an exam - in JANUARY! My first glimpse of Hapuna Beach stunned me. It's postcard gorgeous.

Spring has sprung here. Nothing says Spring like help from BG in the yard. He cut back some banana stalks and trimmed the old avocado tree.
I chose to read on the grassy area just before the beach. The sun was warmer than what we have on the wet side at 1000 feet. It felt wonderful.
Actually I like staying overnight near the park, because then you get a good look at the glow of the volcano by night. It really feels like Pele's home.
I'm sure Faye's class covered the formation of lava tubes. The park has one of the most famous - the Thurston Lava Tube.
Yes, we do get snow on the Big Island, on top of Mauna Kea, our tallest volcano. If you meansured this volcano from the sea floor, it would be taller than Mt. Everett.
