My Women's Circle Aspiration Angel really represented me and the women in my life who preceded me. My feisty Grandma is there - I found that black and white and red material on the doll's back in Grandma's rag bucket. It was originally one of her favorite dresses.

I found the sumputous red satin fabric on her front in my mother-in-law's sewing basket. My Angel also wears a necklace with a medal of Mary and the Cross - that represents my Mom.

See the glasses and long wild hair? That's me. And the different front and back fabric represent the fact that I'm a Gemini. But the really wild part is what my Aspiration Angel told me about myself and my path forward.

All of these Angels live on a prominent shelf in my living room.
Here's my first Aspiration Angel from 2004 (on the left). I came to this seminar grieving over a bad performance review. I had started out making my doll a voo-doo doll representation of my boss. But I took in the message of empowering myself from the seminar and danced with him instead of sticking him. Nonetheless, I did not give him a mouth - didn't want to listen to him anymore.

Here's my second Aspiration Angel (2010) on the right. She was truly an angel right from the start, wings and all. I love that I can wear her as a shawl on one shoulder. Even today when I need some protection or comfort, I'll put her on.

I love being Queen for my Women's Circle. This time I did a take-off on an exercise we did in the best seminar I've ever taken, the Taos Women's Leadership Seminar, Passion for Leadership, Voice for Change. In that seminar we made spirit dolls.

I decided to focus more on the aspiration part of this exercise, so I invited the Women's Circle to come to my house to make Aspiration Angels. To help them envision the exercise, I showed them the spirit dolls I made at the seminar - both times.

I found a picture of my Grandma in that dress. She and Grandpa were intrepid early adopters of the aluminum Christmas tree.
