CHAPTER 4 - CREATING A NEW LIFE IN A NEW YEAR
Honoka'a People's Theatre

March 16
The Honoka'a People's Theatre is the heart of this town. Here we see movies, listen to political candidates, hear and dance to bands, and enjoy local talent. This is truly the People's Theatre.
The theatre has a great stage and room for people to dance in front of it. The owner upgraded the sound system, and the screen is the biggest on the island.
The building shows it's age in quirky little ways. We don't mind.

Dr. Keeney and his family have kept ticket prices low so that everyone can enjoy the movies, just like in the old plantation days.
But one of the most endearing aspects of the theatre has nothing to do with movies. It's the front window, where we go to check out announcements. All a person has to do is slip the announcement under the door and Dr. Keeney and his family will tape it up.

This is the pulse of the community.
The theatre also serves GMO-free popcorn with real butter. Yum!
